Entertaiment is anything that brings pleasure, distraction or amusement. It can be an agreeable occupation for the mind like solving a crossword puzzle or an elaborate performance. It can also be a hospitable provision for the needs and wants of guests. According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010) entertainment is understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form.
Often entertainment hits on points the brain was evolved to deeply react to in order to function socially. It is sometimes abbreviated to entmt on fliers or in industry news publications where space is limited.
