Pros and Cons of Automobiles

Automobiles are wheeled vehicles that are powered by engines and primarily used to transport people. They typically have four wheels, a chassis and are designed to seat one to eight people. Most automobiles are propelled by internal combustion engines using gasoline but can be powered by other sources such as electricity and non-combustible fuels.

Pros: SAVES TIME: Owning an automobile allows you to get from point A to point B much faster than if you had to rely on public transportation or ask your friends for rides. This gives you more time in your day to do other things such as work, spend time with family or just relax.

OPENS UP THE WORLD: Owning an automobile allows you to travel long distances with ease. This means you can find jobs and live in places that were previously not accessible. This also means you can expand your social circle to include more people since you are able to visit them easily.

CONS: Most cars run on gasoline which causes environmental problems such as carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. Also, owning an automobile can be expensive because of maintenance and registration costs.

The automobile revolutionized society in ways that few inventions in modern times have. Modern life seems almost impossible without access to a car. It has shaped urban design, created new government services like police, fire and highways, and stimulated businesses such as gas stations, hotels and amusement parks.
